Septentrio launched its next generation GNSS/INS product line
European news

Septentrio, a leading designer and manufacturer of GNSS receivers, boards, and modules, has launched its next generation of navigation products, the AsteRx-i3 product line. The AsteRx-i3line combines a global navigation satellite system (GNSS) with an inertial navigation system (INS) to provide users with a centimetre level position and accuracy determination.

The combination of GNSS and INS is especially strong, as GNSS provides absolute global positioning of any point with satellite visibility and INS provides a position relative to the starting point. This combination is powerful and it is of great use in a range of industries such as precision agriculture, especially in urban canyons where satellite positioning accuracy could be affected by obstacles or phenomenon like multipath or interferences.

Septentrio’s receivers use the INS not only to take over on GNSS when its performance degrades but also to provide the user with an accurate orientation determination expressed by the attitude angles (heading, pitch, roll). The receiver’s velocity measurement’s accuracy and robustness are enhanced by the IMU integration, which makes this receiver especially suited for applications in the rail and road downstream markets such as driverless cars and industrial robotics.

The AsteRx-i3 product line offers innovative features such as:

  • IP68 certified rugged enclosures to improve receiver resistance to water and dust,
  • Updated anti-jamming, anti-spoofing capabilities,
  • Improved positioning / orienting capabilities.
