MyCarbon – Become carbon neutral effortlessly
GNSS.asia has welcomed six promising and ambitious start-ups to their support programme this year. The programme will help them to gain a foothold in the Asian market and connect the needs of our community with the solutions they offer. This week, we are glad to introduce MyCarbon to you!

Transportation is expected to become the largest source of carbon emissions. Clever solutions are needed to keep our planet green and healthy. MyCarbon makes it simple to take action against climate change. Three young entrepreneurs from Germany have developed a smartphone app using artificial intelligence and precise location data to automatically track the user’s CO2 emissions by detecting the type of vehicle used with an accuracy of more than 86%.
The app is easy to use. There is no need for you as the user to manually enter whether you went by car, bus, or bike. The app does it for you and displays your CO2 budget used and provides recommendations on how to decrease your emissions. In addition, it offers a marketplace with compensation projects across the globe allowing the app user to directly offset his or her CO2 emissions in MyCarbon in less than a minute.
Galileo with its dual-frequency technology is the perfect provider for the high-accuracy positioning data needed for the MyCarbon solution. The team takes the protection of your privacy seriously. Thus, the user’s location data remains on the smartphone and is shared with no one.
The young start-up has already celebrated early success through their participating and ultimately winning in the first stage of MyGalileoSolution. Through this programme, brought to life by the European Union Agency for the Space Programme (EUSPA), MyCarbon has been awarded with a generous prize of EUR 40,000.
